I can’t remember the last time I bought a house.
But I do remember how much more I cared about the upkeep of the house when I bought it.
That’s the sort of love I’m getting with this new house.
The kitchen is spotless, and the laundry and yard are clean.
The bathroom is clean, as is the bathtub.
It’s so good to finally get that new carpet in the living room.
But even though I’m so happy with the house, I’m also wondering if I’m going to keep living here forever.
This new home is a home away from home.
The old one was a family home, with my parents and aunts.
Now it’s just a house for myself.
I’m worried that I’ll forget the joys of home and leave the house with no plans for the future.
And I’m not alone.
In a recent survey, more than 40% of Americans say they’ll consider moving out of their current home by the end of the year, a rise of 13% over the last five years.
But as with most things, there’s no one-size-fits-all answer.
I’ve done the math, and I’m a believer that this new home will be a home to me forever.
If I want to stay in my current home for the rest of my life, I’ll probably want to buy a newer one first.
But if I want my own place, I need to buy one now.
