When the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6 came out last year, a lot of people were wondering how they would play the popular Nerf-branded magazines in the app.
Nerf had previously stated that magazines would be supported in the next update to iOS 9, but with the new iPhone 6S and 6S Plus launching this fall, it’s not clear if they’ll remain in the new iOS 9.2 release.
In an update to the iOS 9 iOS 9 and 10 developer guide, Apple states that “the magazine subscriptions that you have on your device will not be supported with the iOS 10 release.”
Apple says that they “will be available for purchase in the iOS Store in the future,” but if they are, they will be locked in until a later release.
There is a workaround that you can try that will allow you to play magazines in your iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus, but that requires the user to download the app in the App Store and then manually play magazines.
If you don’t want to use the workaround, you can download the free iOS 9 app and then run it through the Settings app.
If you do it the right way, you’ll be able to access the magazine subscriptions.
