by Joe Palazzolo California Magazine bans dirt bike magazines article by Jim Geraghty California Magazine has banned the Dirt Bike magazine after the California State Athletic Commission denied the magazine’s permit for a July 6 event in Sacramento.
The state athletic commission said Dirt Bike was not allowed to hold an event in the city because of an increase in traffic and noise associated with the event, which was to include a charity auction and charity auction.
The event was originally scheduled for Sunday, July 5, but it was moved to a later date due to the increased traffic and the need for additional security, the commission said.
A petition on Change.org calling for Dirt Bike to be reinstated had garnered more than 8,000 signatures by Saturday afternoon.
The petition asks that Dirt Bike be allowed to continue to publish the magazine and for the commission to re-issue a permit for the event.
The commission did not provide any specific reason for its decision.
The magazine’s website still lists the event as a charity fundraiser and says it is an effort to help people find new passions.
California Magazine had announced a charity event in January, but did not hold it due to a lack of sponsors.
